“Birthers” quite possibly the most embarrassing Conservative group.
Let me start by writing something I don’t often write: there are many intelligent Conservatives. As a consequence of my own Leftist bias, I would suggest that there are many more intelligent Liberals than intelligent Conservatives, but even I would not deny the existence of the latter.
There are some, however, who make it difficult to believe in the intelligent Conservative – some people so astonishingly dense that one has to wonder if a human being equipped with the brain of a newt has finally become scientifically possible. These people may be evidence.
They are the “Birthers,” Right-wing extremists who still believe that President Obama was not born in the United States, and thus is not legally allowed to serve in the Office of President.
Let’s take a look at some factual data: President Obama’s birth certificate has been released to the public. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on August 4 1961. Yes, Hawaii was a state by then, and yes, that makes him a United States citizen by birth.
The Birthers, however, don’t seem to get it. What’s worse, their reasoning is wholly unbelievable, and it’s astonishing that anyone can go so many months without getting a clue.
One of the most common arguments they make is that the copy birth certificate supplied by the Obama campaign back in October of 2008 is not really a birth certificate; instead, they claim, a Certification of Live Birth is not sufficient, and they want a Certificate of Live Birth.
There is essentially negligible difference between a Certification and a Certificate in this context; the former is the standard format Hawaii now uses for all of its birth certifications. In the eyes of the law, of course, there is no issue – both “Certifications of Live Birth” and “Certificates of Live Birth” are acceptable as birth certificates. Although the latter does contain more information than the former, there is no legal difference between the two. The Birthers claim an issue with the fact that the Certification is a recreation from an electronic source, but in fact this is a consequence of Hawaii’s standard archival system, not a conspiracy.
Still other Birthers claim even more outrageousness. Some go as far to say there is a massive conspiracy at work, and that the Certification shown by the Obama campaign is a fake. It’s not hard to imagine that these are the same people who think Obama is a Muslim.
The director of the Hawaii Department of Health has reiterated the fact that there is no issue concerning President Obama’s birth in the United States, as his original Certificate of Live Birth is still in existence:
“I, Dr. Chiyome Fukino, director of the Hawai’i State Department of Health, have seen the original vital records maintained on file by the Hawai’i State Department of Health verifying Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawai’i and is a natural-born American citizen,” Fukino said in a statement. “I have nothing further to add to this statement or my original statement issued in October 2008, over eight months ago.”
Further evidence of his birth in Hawaii is available in the form of a newspaper archive containing a birth announcement, dated 13 August 1961:
“Mr. and Mrs. Barack H. Obama, 6085 Kalanianaole Hwy., son, Aug. 4.”
Birthers will point to the little news coverage given to the issue as evidence of a conspiracy at hand. Of course, the Liberal media cannot be expected to give time to the truth, right?
Wrong. It’s not being covered because the only ones interested in it have the IQ of broccoli.
In fact, the only reason I’m giving it time here is to expose the Birthers for what they are: slow-minded ultra-Right radicals who still can’t believe that a black man is President, and thus must cling to extremist conspiracies to keep their own little worlds from collapsing in on themselves. Know anyone like that? I do, and it’s time they got some sense knocked into them.
It’s amazing what happens when a man with black skin and a strange name is elected to the office of President. It really shows you where the nutcases are.
Look, the birther people are chasing a bullshit cause and I do not identify with their beliefs, but this is low:
“It’s amazing what happens when a man with black skin and a strange name is elected to the office of President. It really shows you where the nutcases are.”
You’re only too eager to extrapolate that onto the right, unless I’m misreading your intent here. The last thing that matters about our President is the color of his skin, and no amount of innuendo about his race is going to change that in the hearts and minds of over 90% of the people in this country.
After all, it was Obama himself that engaged in race-baiting with that whole Gates deal. He brought up race and used it to make a point, not anyone else.
I will say, you make every effort to distinguish between birthers and conservatives.
I guess I’m simply tired of being painted as a racist due to unrelated political beliefs.
“I guess I’m simply tired of being painted as a racist due to unrelated political beliefs.”
I wasn’t aware you were a Birther.
Here’s Obama’s dilemma in a nutshell (READ VERY CAREFULLY AND DIGEST):
If BHO shows his original long form birth certificate, indeed showing he was born in Hawaii, it will also show his father was American citizen, Frank Marshall Davis, not the Kenyan/British citizen, Barack Obama Sr. While that would allow Barack Jr. to be POTUS eligible as BOTH a “citizen”/“native born citizen” AND an Article 2 “natural born citizen” — that is, born to two American citizens on American soil — it would simultaneously show he is a fraud hiding his real father — an unacceptable political debacle.
If, on the other hand, BHO keeps hiding his original long form birth certificate — while simply repeating, without showing, he was born in Hawaii — he can still CLAIM BOTH he was born in Hawaii AND his father was the Kenyan/British Barack Obama Sr. This would enable Barack Jr. to claim he’s a “citizen”/“native born citizen” but it would mean (if a federal court would ever get around to declaring and thus far no one has standing to bring the suit) that he’s NOT an Article 2 “natural born citizen” and thus not eligible to be POTUS — a legal/constitutional debacle since all acts under an illegal POTUS are void.
So it seems, BHO has elected option one until forced to go option two because for now it looks like no federal court will ever find a plaintiff with standing. (Of course, there’s the additional issue of BHO losing American citizen status if/when he became an Indonesian citizen — that is, IF he returned and was naturalized he would be a legal citizen, but would lose both native and natural born status, and, IF he returned and was not naturalized, he would be an illegal immigrant unlawfully in this country — but we’ll leave that for another day.)
ONOZ the guy above me is insane!
Jack: Please find the nearest mental institution and turn yourself in. Really. It might be too late, but at least you won’t be a danger to anyone but yourself.
Red: We’ve finally agreed.
Lol. If even Red thinks this guy is nuts, there’s a problem.
