Ah! How we humans can never "see" what is right under our noses (so to speak). It appears that not only have Canadian farmers been brainwashed into believing that "liquid Manure" is the answer, but the whole of Europe and Great Britain too???
So called Liquid Manure is unnatural and even dangerous, not to mention a 100 times smellier than natural manure. It also has different and more dangerous bacteria and organisms in it.
A technique that is used all over the world, discovered half a century ago, perhaps the most efficient and useful invention since fire, is ignored: methane generators on farms and even in cities and towns. Just put a cover over ordinary manure piles, with a water or gasket seal, let it sit (without air - anaerobic) and voila! methane gas that can be used to generate electricity, power a vehicle, run an entire farm, and best of all, eradicates both the smell AND the dangerous run-off from manure or sewage that can poison fields and streams that irrigate crops, that humans eat, that makes said humans violently ill....Not only that, but the methane from the open air manure or sewage is 20 times more powerful as a 'greenhouse' gas than carbon dioxide!!! GONE. All that is left at the end of the process is competely safe,non-burning, non-smelly, non-infectious fertilizer!!! SOOO many problems solved by such a (relatively) simple device, yet where are they? Instead, horrible pollution and huge quantities of methane released into the atmosphere. When will we ever learn to look right under our noses? To think that your newspapers made fun of the gentleman who took the manure from his little flock of hens and made a methane generator out of an oil drum and thereby powered his house - only to be made fun of.....

Ehhm, NO it can't be the dutchies. Yes they are not allowed to spread manure during winter, BUT they have to inject the manure in the ground. You don't smell manure in the Netherlands anymore. So don't blame a good system
